In October, the Department of Education released their funding guidance for 2020/21 applicants, which has meant some changes for applicants in certain subjects.

Good news for those considering training to teach in Art & Design, as the subject has attracted a bursary for the first time in recent years. Applicants across all routes will now receive £9,000 with an Honours degree (first, 2:1 or 2:2).

Eligible Maths, Languages and Science applicants will receive a total of £26,000 across their training year with an additional £6,000 paid in their early career.

There have been additional changes to other subjects, and applicants are advised to research funding carefully before making an application by visiting the Government’s Get into Teaching website.

We are pleased to announce that John Taylor has been designated as one of 11 Teaching School Hubs in the West Midlands to be operational from September 2021, serving schools in East Staffordshire, Tamworth, Lichfield, Cannock, North Warwickshire, Nuneaton and Bedworth. As John Taylor Teaching School Hub we will continue to offer ITE and CPD provision and we will still offer our Appropriate Body Services. We will shortly be launching our new website and will advise as soon as this is up and running. Exciting times!
